Crivitz Youth, Inc. Child Development Center is a non-profit, human service provider whose purpose is to improve the quality of life for children and their families through education. The Crivitz Youth Inc. preschool program was first offered in 1981 with child care services being added in 1997.

Construction of the Child Development Center (CDC) was commissioned by Crivitz Youth, Inc. and Phase I construction began in 1995 with the Daycare Center and was originally licensed for 24 preschool children. It was such a success that Phase II for 32 infants and toddlers and Phase III for 30 after school children quickly followed. Final construction was completed in 1998.

Under the guidance of a caring and professional staff, activities for children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age are provided to promote early childhood education and social development. The philosophy of the CDC focuses on the development of the total child. The curriculum, therefore, is designed to carry out this philosophy and to make sure that in the process, each child's individuality is carefully nurtured.

The children enjoy quality child care in a clean, attractive and modern facility, which is spacious both indoors and out. The CDC strives to ensure the program is fun yet educational, encouraging discovery and exploration, while providing a structured preschool environment.

The Child Development Center supplies equipment of the finest quality in a stimulating environment where creative art expression is encouraged.

The CDC staff promotes enthusiasm for learning and encourages the development of a positive self-concept. Group activities, one-on-one encounters and positive discipline provide experience in learning to live with others.

Unique features of the building include:

  • In-floor heat in the infant, toddler, and transition rooms as the children spend a good deal of time on the floor.
  • Ceilings that are patterned to help occupy young minds during quiet times.
  • An infant room that has indirect lighting to avoid any harsh glare in the babies' eyes as they lie in their cribs.

Both the preschool and after-school rooms have vaulted ceilings scaled to relate to the proportions of these large areas. Acoustic tile has been used to control sound. The after school/large "motor skills" space has a multi-patterned resilient tile floor to facilitate indoor games.
